Objects and paintings by Eva Biedert Roulet

Objects

Lightness and wittiness led Eva Biedert into creating delightful three-dimensional objects.

„Newspaper-Zipties“
The big and small objects out of newspapers and zipties are very work-intensive. They repay this hard labour with their uniqueness and fun eye catcher-quality.

Paintings

The new paintings by Eva Biedert Roulet show the light and bright side of the artist. They are underlaid with the history of former creative periods.
Eva stays true to her paint-over-technique. These new, optimistic paintings are therefore created on the base of older ones. The old works are being painted over up to three times. The applying of the slightly transparent, white coating preserves hints of the previous pictures. Some details of these “foundations” are integrated in the new works and often trigger the impulse from which the new painting is created. The self-contained quality of the artist’s former creative periods is laid aside.
With delicate marker lines Eva Biedert bestows upon her paintings a freedom and openness of interpretation, which leads to funny observations and often makes the observers chuckle.

The strong reactions, that Eva Biedert Roulets’ pictures provoke in the viewer, have a many layered background. Her technique leads the viewer to a different view, which with a longer gaze brings one ever deeper into the picture.
The inspiration for her pictures and for her colour choice comes from nature, from the meetings with people, from her environment and from her dreams, day and night. Eva Biedert Roulet forms her pictures like sculptures. When she picks up the paintbrush/spatula and forms the background colours on the canvas, this is a quick, spontaneous and generous romp. After the basic energy is let loose, which contains several nuances of colour, it allows the consideration of the foundation. Where does the structure lead us, the highs and lows, the light and dark?
Now comes the choice of colour. Often one colour dominates, which is combined with an accentuated contrasting colour. Then it will be reduced, worked and structured until the picture agrees with the inner desires of the artist. And so the painting and considerations of the picture come to a sensible climax.
Every view opens itself by the enjoyment of the picture in its own world. The inner self can use the offering from Eva Biedert Roulet to make its way into consciousness, and to appear on the canvas in front of the eyes of the viewer. In this way Eva Biedert Roulets’ pictures reflect the soul.
